Head of Operation Section for West Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency, Syaiful Kahfi said the fire is suspected to have been triggered by a gas cylinder leak during cooking activities at around 6:46 AM.

"The fire is suspected to have been triggered by a gas cylinder leak," he said, Monday (12/15).

Syaiful explained, his side deployed 15 fire trucks and 75 personnel to extinguish the fire that engulfed three houses, covering an area of ​​166 square meters.

"There were no injuries or fatalities in the incident, but 36 people had to temporarily lose their homes," he explained.

Meanwhile, Apriyansah (36), a local resident, admitted the residents tried to extinguish the fire when they saw thick smoke.

"Fortunately, the personnel were very quick and alert, so the fire did not spread to a larger building," he admitted.
